Equipment Introduction:
The plane shape of the pool body is circular or square, and water enters the pool from top to bottom through the inlet pipe located at the center of the pool (the flow velocity in the pipe should be less than 30mm/s). An umbrella shaped baffle is placed under the pipe to evenly distribute the wastewater in the pool and slowly rise along the entire water flow section (usually 0.5-0.7mm/s for domestic sewage, with a sedimentation time of 1-1.5h). Suspended solids settle into the conical sedimentation hopper at the bottom of the pool, and clarified water flows out from around the pool along the surrounding overflow weir. A baffle and a scum tank are installed in front of the weir to intercept the scum and ensure the quality of the effluent. On one side of the pool, a mud discharge pipe (with a diameter greater than 200mm) is installed against the pool wall to regularly discharge the mud through static water pressure. The advantages of vertical flow sedimentation tank are small footprint, easy sludge discharge, and it is commonly used in sewage treatment plants with a water treatment capacity of less than 20000m3/d.
Theoretical basis:
In a vertical flow sedimentation tank, the water flow direction is opposite to the particle sedimentation direction, and the interception speed is equal to the rising speed of the water flow. Particles with a rising speed equal to the settling speed will be suspended in the mixed liquid to form a suspension layer, which intercepts and filters the rising particles. Therefore, the efficiency of vertical flow sedimentation tanks is higher than that of horizontal flow sedimentation tanks.
